Description
From the personal record collection of MONTGOMERY CLIFT, up for auction is this ultra-rare and pristine copy of another great American actor, EDWIN BOOTH. Recorded by Edison himself in 1890, this 1939 transfer to 78RPM disc is #31 of only 50 produced. The disc and accompanying booklet are in mint condition, and the album (black paper-covered cardboard with embossed gold lettering) shows only the edge-wear and corner scuffs of an 80-year-old artifact stored for 50 years in Monty's twin sister's sunroom. The worst of the damage is shown in the photos---a roughly-worn top-right corner. Other, slight damage is shown in picture 5. Ethel McGinnis was a sweet, old neighbor lady, and I purchased her brother's records from her estate sale several years ago. Now they can be yours. Other listings will follow, but this seems to be the most notable---a museum-piece!!
