Description
A SEA FOR YOURSELF - Surf Movie Soundtrack Grail- MEGA RARE ADVANCE COPY NM- LPs
Sleeve: SOLID VG
Solid plain white sleeve has no splits…just some dirt and a station sticker…original taped on cover sheet has come un-taped but I will leave it as-is and send it on. If you’d prefer, I can re-attach it carefully. The original tape is still attached to the cover sheet.
Discs: EX to NM-
GLOSSY beautiful discs have only a few wispy superficial marks that have no effect whatsoever.
This is an INSANELY RARE, legendary and PHENOMENAL Surf/Funk/Psych soundtrack! What makes it even more special is that it is an advance copy sent to Bob Senn, a DJ at KCBX in Santa Barbara…I have not been able to find another like it. More below. This comes from Bob Senn’s collection that was passed down to his good friend.
The plain white cover first pressing with the taped on cover sheet is mega rare as it is…but I have NEVER seen one like this. The cover sheet that was taped to the front of this one has the “World Premiere Showings” listed with dates, showtimes and $2.50 admission price.
The World Premiere Showings listed were- Fri., Jan. 19th at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara, CA, Sat., Jan. 20th at the Ventura Women’s Center and Tues., Jan. 23, at the Magic Lantern Theater at UCSB Isla Vista.
All other versions simply have “The First Edition - Soundtrack Album - 2 Record Set” in the place of the showtimes.
There is no poster that was inside the gatefold or track list on the back that apparently came with the mail order version. It is quite possible that this advance copy never had them- I don’t know.
This version has not been catalogued on Discogs and I haven’t been able to find any previous sale or even photo of one like this.
Created by an incredible aggregation of California Music royalty–Rick Henn, Dennis and Daryl Dragon, plus other friends - this ultra-scarce, in-demand soundtrack for Hal Jepsen’s 1972 film A Sea For Yourself features an astounding journey of styles from funky, freeform workouts to homegrown, backporch rock to breezy, bossa-tinged instrumentals. There's some nutty heavy prog, some jazz, funk, folk, a little bit of everything. Artists include Rockin' Foo, The Dragons, BFI, The Bozone, Dan Peyton, Richard Henn & Co., and several others. Front cover slick was done by artist Jim Evans, who did the Relatively Clean Rivers album.
I grade properly and carefully. Any issues will be shown in pics and/or mentioned. See my feedback!
FAIR OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED
Shipping: $6 via USPS Media Mail. Disc has been ultrasonically cleaned and will be placed behind the jacket in a plastic outer sleeve, sandwiched between cardboard stiffeners and shipped in a proper LP mailer.
International shipping is done through eBay’s global program. I have no say in the cost whatsoever. I have sent several records using this program and have had only satisfied customers.
ANYWAY….please free to ask any questions and thanks for looking!
