A-Austr's rare only album is a wonderful example of private press psychedelia. The tracks are unabashedly noncommercial and experimental but still listenable. The styles of the songs changes frequently, but the segues and sequencing keep the album cohesive. 'Between the Road' and 'It's Alright' feature some clever use of found sounds and tape manipulation; the latter creates an effect that makes the guitar sound like it is falling out of tune, something I have never heard before. Obviously this album will remain in relative obscurity (it did only have 99 initial pressings after all), but with reissues available I'm surprised this album isn't more popular in its genre.
