Description
A lovely condition example of the very first 8 track cartridge release in November 1969, of " Abbey Road" by The Beatles. Stereo with tape speed of 3 & 3/4 ips. Comes with an original tape head cover flap. Very nice.
No heat raising to the two separate full colour cover labels showing the front and the rear of the LP vinyl album, No tearing to the labels. (See Photos) Released at the very same time as the LP vinyl album in November 1969.
The tape head backing strip has been replaced with new and the pivot wheel cleaned. New metal foil sensors have been fitted. Comes with four spare foil sensors if ever needed - an easy operation. Tested and plays perfectly.
These first release Beatles 8 track tapes came in blue wrappers with a large rectangular cut-out cellophaned window to show the cover label, but most owners discarded these after opening, considering them simply to be part of the packaging you threw away. However this item does come in a Capitol ( EMI subsidiary) purpose made outer cardboard box.
These first UK 8 track releases of the Beatles catalogue were sold from 1969 to end of 1971. After that period REissues were sold in varying front/rear label designs (some in poor monochrome) and packaged in cardboard slip boxes and plastic cases.
I bought this item from one collector as part of a carefully looked after Beatles catalogue - all cartridges which were in the same, well looked after, condition. Please see photographs. Reasonably priced given its nice condition.
