Description
"Replacing the RED SKELTON SHOW, here's a special rebroadcast for all you men and women in the Armed Forces of the United Nations...It's laugh time with those mad men of mirth, ABBOTT and COSTELLO!
Listen to the music of FREDDIE RICH and his Orchestra ... the songs of Connie Haynes ... tonight's guest PETER LORRE ...and starring BUD ABBOTT and LOU COSTELLO!
HEYYYYYYYYYYYY AB-BOTTTTTTT!"
And here's a very enjoyable original WAR DEPARTMENT RADIO PROGRAM TRANSCRIPTION DISC containing a complete 30-minute episode of the famous radio series: "ABBOTT AND COSTELLO".
This program originally aired on January 13, 1944. The label (as noted in the program opening) reads "RED SKELTON" with a typed "REPLACED BY ABBOTT AND COSTELLO SS-2-15-6" - that might mean the show was played on AFRS on February 15, but I can't be sure of that. It's a fun show, with movie legend PETER LORRE running a sanitarium filled with creepy happenings...a foreshadowing of Abbott & Costello's later run-ins with the Universal Monsters in their films.
This is an original 16" WAR DEPARTMENT disc, issued to AFRS radio stations and it's in a protective sleeve.
The disc is clean and uncracked (although is has some surface scratches and scuffing); the recording is in good condition.
See scans of the labels for both sides of the disc. There are no skips; there's some scuffing on side two that results in a popping sound, but no skips .
Will ship in sturdy packing...excessive shipping costs will be rebated via paypal for multiple purchases.
