Abner Jay - Hambone and Rattle The Bones   Brandie Records for Social Music Record Club, Portland Abner Jay was an American multi-instrumentalist, who is best known for performing eccentric, blues infused folk music, as a one man band.
Here are two rare, previously unreissued recordings assembled by
Jay Martin (who oversaw the Abner Jay releases on
Mississippi Records), licensed from Mr. Jay's estate. 
12 inch - 45 rpm - 2 songs - Super rare vinyl pressing. Released in 2012 on
Brandie Records for Social Music Record Club, Portland.
Catalog SMRC-008 limited edition / subscription only release.
Played once. Vinyl and sleeve/jacket in excellent NM condition.  What appear to be some wrinkles on the back sleeve picture
are actually in/on the picture/photo, the sleeve is not wrinkled at all.
Special limited release features 2 rare recordings unissued elsewhere - with enough punch to warrant the special presentation! Side one features a gritty version of "Hambone" with ragged Bo Diddley-style guitar, but a bit more rural overall - and sing-song lyrics that move right along with the hand-clapping rhythms! "Rattle The Bones" has a slightly different groove, but not that different overall - still kind of a skittish vibe overall, although there's a melancholy quality to Abner's vocals that almost takes us back to the Louvin Brothers at times!   ~Internet Review/Comment~
Abner Jay - Hambone and Rattle The Bones. From here on out when you see a Social Music Record Club release treat it as a Mississippi Records alert! These titles are brought to fruition, with the same care you have come to know and love from a Mississippi Records release. Although Social Music is not a Mississippi subsidiary, the people involved do work closely together. Some of our favorite Mississippi issues so far have been the Abner Jay LPs and 10" that included some of our favorite folk blues cuts such as "I'm So Depressed" and "Cocain". Now we have a new two song Abner Jay 12" from Social Music, a  two song 12" by our favorite one man band Abner Jay. Two songs never before reissued on a Mississippi LP here presented somewhat ostentatiously with a beautiful old school cover.   ~Internet Review/Comment~
