Abner Jay "The Backbone of America is a Mule and Cotton" LP, released by Brandie Records, red label. No catalog number?

Says on label that it is mono. Side one is a medley of traditionals, side two is a medley of hymns and spirituals.

I never thought I would see an original Abner Jay record. Has the great liner notes scrolled all over the rear cover, I'll transcribe them here (spelling and grammatical errors left intact):

Abner Jay - sings and plays - American Classics - Abner has been singing and playing these same songs since 1926. He plays and sings these songs in the Original style. A One Man Band, hambone and bone player. His banjo dates back to 1748. He plays banjo, Drums, Sings and play harmonica all at the same time. This Record is a true Collectors item. It will be worth a lot of money when Abner is Dead. Abner say he is just like Ole black Joe, my head is bending low. Abner is the same to this country as Toscanni is to his country, A CLASSIC. Abner loves the old Swanee River water. He feels he is to ole now to lay down on his belly and drink from the ole Swanee like he use to. So now he drinks the water from a half gallon Fruit Jar. He drinks abut a gallon of Swanee River water per day. He claims this is why his Voice is so deep and low, also the secret of him being the father of 16 YounG'UNS. May God Bless You.

vinyl = vinyl is glossy, with about 5 visible minor marks on side one, and about 4 on side 2. side 2 has a few small minor spindle marks around spindle-hole, side one has a few that are bigger and a little more prominent.

cover = has maintained it's sheen quite well, and is in quite like-new shape, except there is som yellowing (from aging) sort of sicoloration along opening edge visible from rear cover, and some at right side of top edge, visible from front cover.

Altogether, a great better-than-average copy of such a rare ORIGINAL private gem. ABNER JAY!
