This incredibly rare LP was only released in Australia and sold poorly there. Now one of the most sought after AC/DC LP's.

This one comes from an Australian musician.

A one-off opportunity.

The record is in Excellent Condition, clean and hardly used with some light surface marks visible under a strong light. Both labels are excellent. The cover is in at least Very Good Condition with some ringwear and creasing. Also inside gatefold has come partially loose at seams but could easily be repaired but will leave to the buyer.

A brief history of early AC/DC including this LP:-

In November 1973 Malcolm and Angus Young formed AC/DC and recruited bassist Larry Van Kriedt, vocalist Dave Evans, and Colin Burgess, ex-Masters Apprentices drummer.The band played their first gig at a club named Chequers in Sydney on New Year's Eve, 1973. They were later signed to the EMI-distributed Albert Productions label for Australia and New Zealand by label founder Ted Albert. The early line-up of the band changed often; Colin Burgess was the first member fired, and several bassists and drummers passed through the band during the next year.

By this time, Angus Young had adopted his characteristic school-uniform stage outfit. The idea was his sister Margaret's. Angus had tried other costumes, such as Spider-Man, Zorro, a gorilla, and a parody of Superman, named Super-Ang. In fact in its early days, most members of the band dressed in some form of glam or satin outfit but this approach was abandoned when it was discovered Melbourne band Skyhooks had already adopted this approach to their stage presentation.

The Young brothers decided that Evans was not a suitable frontman for the group, because they felt he was more of a glam rocker like Gary Glitter. On stage, Evans was occasionally replaced by the band's first manager, Dennis Laughlin, who was the original lead singer with Sherbet prior to Daryl Braithwaite joining the band. Evans did not get along with Laughlin, which also contributed to the band's ill feeling toward Evans.

The journey begins (1974–77)

In September 1974 Ronald Belford "Bon" Scott, an experienced vocalist and friend of George Young, replaced Dave Evans. Like the Young brothers, Scott had been born in Scotland before emigrating to Australia in his childhood. The band had recorded only one single with Evans, "Can I Sit Next to You, Girl" / "Rockin' in the Parlour"; eventually, the song was re-recorded with Bon Scott as "Can I Sit Next to You Girl" (Track 7 on the Australian album T.N.T., and Track 6 on the international release of High Voltage.

By January 1975, the Australia-only album High Voltage had been recorded. It took only ten days and was based on instrumental songs written by the Young brothers, with lyrics added by Scott. Within a few months, the band's line-up had stabilised, featuring Scott, the Young brothers, bassist Mark Evans and drummer Phil Rudd. Later that year they released the single "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)", which became their perennial rock anthem. It was included on their second album, T.N.T., which was also released only in Australia and New Zealand. The album featured another classic song, "High Voltage".

Between 1974 and 1977, aided by regular appearances on Molly Meldrum's Countdown the ABC’s nationally broadcast pop-music television show, AC/DC became one of the most popular and successful acts in Australia. Their performance on 3 April 1977 was their last live TV appearance for more than 20 years

I use the record collector grading system when grading records with the addition of a + or - when appropriate in order to give the most accurate description possible. I have also provided my own interpretation of what the gradings mean to me. All records are visually graded in normal light and under artificial light to ensure the item is correctly advertised.

I have 15 years experience of collecting and grading records and do as much as possible to ensure buyers are happy with their purchases.

MINT

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any exta items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

My interpretation - Shop Condition. At most a handful of the tiniest hairline marks might be visible under bright light. Very very minor edge/corner wear to cover may be present (as usual from a new LP picked up from a record shop rack) is accceptable.

EXCELLENT

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

My Interpretation - Very well cared for and hardly played. Lovely gloss to vinyl which is clean. No scratches but a handful of light surface marks acceptable. One or two light scratches that cannot be felt and don't affect play in any way are also acceptable. Cover etc may have normal light storeage wear or minor creasing and ageing.

VERY GOOD

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is accepttable.

My Interpretation - Lots of  light surface marks and scratches. Some light clicks and/or minor distortion etc are acceptable. Fingermarks and dirt on the vinyl may also be acceptable. Cover etc in normal condition for age with average wear and tear, some creasing and minor staining, writing on labels and cover may be acceptable.

GOOD

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

My Interpretation - Vinyl is badly marked with scuffs/scratches/surface marks etc. Vinyl plays with lots of hiss/clicks/jumps etc.  May also have extensive groove wear. Cover etc will be bent/scuffed/stained/torn etc.

FAIR

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise etc:it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

My Interpretation - Vinyl is knackered and sounds like a frying breakfast when it ain't jumping or clicking. Cover etc will be badly worn, torn, stained or defaced etc.

POOR

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

My Interpretation - Awful! Only offered for sale if extremely rare.

BAD

The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler.

My Interpretation - Speaks for itself.

Sometimes a record may be graded visually and aurally. This usually applies to a record that looks badly marked but plays superbly. This is common, particularly with 1950's & 1960's records that can look 'Good' but play 'Excellent' or above. In these cases I would normlly assess the grading as being somewhere between the two.

NOTE:- The above gradings differ from Goldmine and other publications grading systems so please read carefully before bidding.

Some of the items that I offer will be play-graded, but some will not. This is purely to do with the amount of time I have available and nothing else. Therefore if the description does not state the record has been play-graded then it has not been so. All play-graded descriptions are based on how the record sound on my system.

I do have a vacuum cleaning machine which I may use when cleaning records. This is used with top quality L'Art Du Son cleaning fluid. If a record has been cleaned with this beforehand then I will detail this in the listing. I am unable to vacuum clean all listings due to time constraints, however I will clearly indicate this in any listings.
