Description
EXTREMELY RARE and long out-of-print Australian 2nd pressing box set called "VOL. 1" and includes the band's first six albums, plus a previously unreleased bonus 12" single of the song "Cold Hearted Man". Released in Australia on Albert Productions (Cat# AC/DC1 ) from 1982.
I purchased this box set from Tower Records back in the mid-80's, just recently discovered packed away in my attic. I no longer have a turntable, so I am unable to play these to ascertain their sound quality. However, upon visual inspection, I find no sign of scratches or damage to the vinyl surfaces. I seem to remember they were just fine the last time I played them, back in the 90's sometime before converting over to CD's. Based on what I remember and how they look, I grade them a Good Plus (G+).
What really shines are the album sleeves. These are the Australian pressings, not the ones released in the U.S, so not only are the jacket artworks different, but so are the song selections on each album. (Except "Powerage" and "Highway to Hell". Powerage is the exact same as the US version. Highway to Hell is the same album but a different jacket design.) All of these albums carry either the black or red "Albert Productions" labels on the vinyls. All of the vinyls are still inside the plastic sleeve liners within the jackets. I rate all of the album jackets (sleeves) a Very Good (VG). I would have said they were Near Mint, except the High Voltage sleeve has a small slit in the bottom, and a few of them show some slight rubbing signs on the surfaces.
This boxed set is comprised of the following:
1 - "HIGH VOLTAGE" - Black Albert label and Aussie release artwork
2 - "LET THERE BE ROCK" - Black Albert label and Aussie release artwork
3 - "T.N.T" - Black Albert label and Aussie release artwork
4 - "POWERAGE" - Black Albert label and same artwork as US release
5 - "DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP"- Red Albert label and Aussie release artwork
6 - "HIGHWAY TO HELL" - Black Albert label and different artwork than the standard US release
7 - "COLD HEARTED MAN"- previously unreleased single with the Red Albert label
The "Let There Be Rock" and "T.N.T" album sleeves also open up to show inner pictures and song lyrics (see photos).
The outer box itself has some packing tape on the corners keeping it together, but the rest of the box is in good shape. No tears, mold, animal chew marks, etc.
This would be a really nice addition to any AC/DC fan's collection of band memorabilia. Because I can't play the albums to hear their sound quality, I am allowing a return based on that reason within 10 days of receipt. This should allow you ample time to listen to each album and evaluate for yourself. The turntable I had back in the 80's was not anywhere near the quality as the ones available now, so no doubt there will be some needle noise. I guess it's your decision as to what's acceptable or not. If you do wish to return this boxed set, start the process through Ebay and we'll work it out.
Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail, and a fixed rate of $18.00 will be charged.
