PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. SCARCE Original 1971 first pressing of a really good, solid and even excellent hard guitar dominated blues rocker thatr comes highly regarded by collectors & dealers around the globe. Led by Mike Johnson, he's all about the flash & fire that burns within:::::
Alright, here is a private pressed guitar magic fingers heavy blues-rock winner ...This album by THE EXKURSIONS is their first and ONLY album issued in limited quantity from 42 years ago delivering tastey blues rock with lots of burning wah-wah & fuzz guitar fills. You will find a lot of different genres of music mixed in this album. There is definitely a good amount of fuzzed out psych guitar with the band being a trio...and they kick it into gear, so at times bordering on a heavy rock feel, but never does it get too heavy. You will find it has the early Groundhogs sound that can be heard at points.
The percussion is rudimentary but at the same time works very well with the vocals and guitar work...."Its Been Set Down", starts with a drum solo that after 30 or so seconds breaks into a very heavy very fuzzed out psych guitar riff that continues throughout the song.
This album is owned or wanted by about every underground rock collector with a decent library of music. Again, it is a very heavy guitar dominated trio, very bluesy psych rock, so if you like bands like The Groundhogs and so forth, you won't be let down by this album, which is by far more hard to find having been released over 40 years ago on private only label...
The now legendary Mike Johnson's is quite an accomplished guitarist. Not quite the Jimi Hendrix clone some reviewers would have you believe, but quite impressive - check out his work on 'Third Eye'. Also be sure to check out 'Baby You Lied' with a pair of headphones on ... great stereo engineering from Jonnzen.
The main focus of the album is Chicago based psychedelic blues rock, with heavy fuzz guitar sound. Overall it's a pretty irresistable Christian leaning bluesy guitar-psych work-out featuring the prolific Mike Johnson in his younger days as a Christian laced Hendrix epigon. That being said, the Lp has to be one of the coolest x-ian albums of all time, with a confident powertrio groove, laidback Jimi-style vocals, and several truly great tracks like the above mentioned "Third Eye". Overall Mike Johnson is a truly talented guitarist and a few songs here have a fuzz sound to die for. The songwriting doesn’t match the performances, and there are a few bluesy/hard rock clichés, but for the most part this is solid hard rock and one of the best centered in the heavenly waters.... credits in part: Bad Cat records ...check 'em out, it will be worth it....
