Very hard to find original United States pressing of this album, released in 1975. What’s even cooler is the copy we are offering here comes complete with its original song lyric insert, titled “The Trees Perform ‘The Christ Tree’, A Musical Meditation”. The Trees were from New York City but recorded this record at Roller Mills Best Winter Wheat Flour Recording Studio in Glen Arbor, Michigan. Sounds fitting…
This LP gets a very favorable review by Patrick Lundborg on page 333 of his book “Acid Archives The Second Edition”. Among the things Patrick writes are, “An Extraordinary religious progressive folk album that moves across time and space in a C.O.B.-like manner, yet never misses the beat. It’s dominated by three extended mindblowers that bring in deep Search Party brooding, Indian and Japanese instruments, advanced choral experiments, bells, gongs, hippie commune vibes, you name it” and “A deeply spiritual feel emerges, yet the steady, superbly controlled influx of ideas spells pure psychedelia for acidhead seekers. On the IQ scale this one’s way up there”.
COVER: This jacket grades VG. For a black background cover, the front and back don’t have much wear for their age, however there is some creasing and also a 2 inch top center seam split and a 2 inch bottom center seam split. There’s a note taped to the back reading “Gift From Ann Doemland- Christmas, 1976”.
VINYL: The record looks like it has hardly been played and has no scratches and no spindle marks. When we removed the record from the paper inner sleeve, we noticed the song lyric insert was against Side 1 of the album and has left a light cosmetic surface mark from one of its edges on the vinyl. There’s also a bit of additional cosmetic surface marking on the vinyl, some of it probably from years stored inside the sleeve. This record grades a nice EX.
