ACQUA FRAGILE
s/t June 1973 release
(produced by PFM and C. Fabi)
DISCHE NUMERO UNO
DZSLN 55656

RANDOM FANDOM MUSINGS: ...Acqua Fragile were one of the more song-oriented Italian progressive groups, singing in English and combining melodic influences from early 70s Genesis, Yes and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Lanzetti's nasal voice (comparable to Peter Gabriel, Roger Chapman or Pat Moran of the group Spring) dominates most tracks, sometimes accompanied by three-part vocal harmonies. The majestic guitar licks are also similar to those of Steve Hackett... Their first album was released in 1973 on the independent Numero Uno label, one of the very few italian prog albums entirely sung in english. A good album with nice west-coast multivocal influences mixed with an english prog sound, especially
inspired by the likes of Genesis and Gentle Giant...  The albums were originally released by Dischi Ricordi, the same RCA subsidiary which released the early PFM albums, and the first album came in an unusual package: What looked at first like a gatefold LP cover unfolded into a flat poster which measured 24 x 24 inches and combined a Klee-like art style ala post-YELLOW SUBMARINE...

COLLECTORS CORNER: (from http://www.italianprog.com) Acqua Fragile has never been reissued on vinyl in Italy, neither counterfeited... The album has been reissued on CD in March 2003... A japanese vinyl edition exists...

Here's another much loved LP from my stack. Played and enjoyed with care for only a few decades!
LP is in NM condition. A couple of small scratches... but after 35 years don't we all have a couple of small scratches?? Adds to our character(s)! Fold out poster cover in VVG condition, note in the picture a slight stain on the spine (in the middle of pic). This is the edge that would be "out" as it sits on the shelf.

The Fine Print: I've read somewhere that the inner sleeve for this album should have lyrics... this one doesn't. I don't remember there ever being a lyric sleeve with this disc. I guess it may have existed once but it must have been destroyed or lost over the years... Most of the 70s are still a fog to me...

Pick up this classic Italian Progressive gem while you can!

ABOUT ME? I've finally decided to start selling some of the stuff I've amassed over the past 40 or so years. I'm going to have lots of vinyl records, mostly progressive rock and country but also some older vintage stuff that once belonged to my parents. Comic books and related material are starting to hit ebay, mostly 60s-70s Marvel Comics group. CDs are moving out... mostly progressive rock, but again there may be other esoteric stuff tossed in and up for grabs. Some sports collectables are going to be available too, as well as other odds and ends. Stay tuned! You never know what I might dig up from the back of the closet...
