For their second release, new French label Cosmocities welcome Active Ingredients aka golden era MC Stan Smith and Inkswel, the futuristic pair who blurs lines between hip hop, beats and house music. "The Middle" finds them come together in a real sweet spot, where smooth flows and lush beats sooth the soul and lyrical depth proved plenty of brain food. Broken beat maestro Kaidi Tatham also appears with a superb remix of the title track to close out a record that very much sums up the vibrant intersection between jazz, beats and hip hop that has been blowing up in 2019.
