Adam & The Ants existed in two formations, with the latter known as the new wave glamsters who achieved their share of commercial success throughout the early 80s. The first iteration of the group, however, owed more to punk rock, being equally informed by the snarling attitude of Sex Pistols and the theatrical aesthetic of Siouxsie & The Banshees, with their early material landing somewhere between jagged art-rock and glistening post-punk. Live At The BBC 1978-1979 collates many of this era's live performances, including their much adored Peel Sessions and early versions of cuts that would appear on their debut LP Dirk Wears White Sox. As that project itself would see many reappraisals throughout its myriad of reissues, rest assured you haven't heard these cuts like you can here, as they were likely in a state of constant flux and tinkering. A true rarity for fans on either side of the anthill.
