ADRIENNE POSTER: Shang A Doo Lang. 1964 UK Decca Huge Stones Tune. MINT. MOD BEAT. Condition is "Used".
For auction this magnificent driving pop explosion from the pens of Mick Jagger and Keith Richard and powerfully delivered by Adrienne Poster. The real star of the sensational three minutes though Andrew Loog Oldham's production. Many tried to capture Spector's Wall Of Sound and most came up short - but not here. This hurtles along, brilliantly arranged by Charles Blackwell and for my money eclipses the Stones own records that year. This is the very heart beat of pop music. And what a copy!
The vinyl is unmarked, bright and shiny. There are no scratches, scuffs or hairlines. It gleams. The labels are unfaded and vibrant, the deep blue and silver livery of Decca just as it was the day it left the pressing plant. It really appears unplayed. There is a small circular sticker on the A side (see picture) which looks removable but, for obvious reasons, I left it where it seems to have been for nearly 60 years. The original Decca bag is crisp and free of any rips, writing or staining. A truly beautiful copy of a standard unlikely to be repeated on eBay.
