Ode Z 1244010, from 1968. Africa consisted of doo-wop group veterans Brice Coefield, Gary Pipkin, Chester Pipkin, Ed Wallace, and Freddie Wills (+ uncredited Billy Storm). Members had performed together in vocal groups such as the Valiants (led by Billy Storm), and the Alley Cats (produced by Phil Spector), but this is very different and unique. The closest thing I can think of is maybe early War with Eric Burdon. This includes psychedelic versions of songs by The Rolling Stones and The Doors, but in funky arrangements with jungle percussion. Unknown musicians, except that Chester Pipkin is on guitar. VG+ record and VG+ gatefold cover (Artwork inspired by The Band's "Music From Big Pink"), c/o hole, and small name on the back.
