AFRIQUE - "Soul Makossa" 1973 LP on Mainstream MRL 394

Killer Afro Funk issued by Mainstream Records to cash in on the success of soul makossa. The all star group includes funky drummer PAUL HUMPHREY, organist CHARLES KYNARD, CHUCK RAINEY - bass, KING ERRISSON - percussion, and guitarists DAVID T WALKER and ARTHUR WRIGHT. The record does include a version of "Soul Makossa" but the ticket is the breakbeat classic "House Of The Rising Funk", the same version of the track that was issued on a 7" under the name The Chubukos. Other include "Kissing My Love", "Hot Mud", "Get It", "Hot Doggin", and "Let Me Do My Thing".
