AFTER TEA: s/t, Holland Negram 1969 1st pressing LP. Extremely rare Dutch psych here. Record and flimsy gatefold sleeve are in very good condition. The front of the sleeve has been separated from the rest, see picture for details.
Killer heavy blaster is nothing like the other LPs by this crew, lots of loud riffing guitars on this one! It also seems to be their rarest at this point as I never see it offered. One of the best hard rock LPs from the Lowlands along with Golden Earring's "Wall Of Dolls" and Cargo.
Musical evolution was in the air at the end of the '60s, as groups adapted to survive in an ever-changing rock landscape. Such was the case with After Tea, who shed the colourful petals of their flower-pop past to re-emerge as a solid progressive blues rock outfit with their outstanding 1970 album, 'Joint House Blues'. Finally this overlooked album sees its first official reissue on 180 gram audiophile vinyl, dynamically remastered from the original master tapes. The LP will be released in a gatefold sleeve featuring the (restored) spectacular original artwork on the exterior, plus archival photos and liner notes by Mike Stax on the inside. After Tea was formed in 1967 when four members of the Tee-Set split from singer Peter Tetterroo to start a new band. By 1969 they'd evolved into a powerful underground blues rock outfit featuring lead singer and bassist Polle Eduard (who was interviewed for the liner notes), guitarist Ferry Lever, Ulli Grun on the churning Hammond B3 and Ilja Gort on drums.
