After Tea is een Nederlandse band uit Delft, die eind jaren 60 enkele hits scoorde. De band was een afsplitsing van de Tee Set. Enkele leden van de band waren Hans van Eijck, Polle Eduard en Ilja Gort.

After Tea ontstaat medio 1967 als drie leden van de Tee Set na een conflict met zanger Peter Tetteroo en manager Theo Cuppens besluiten om voor zichzelf te beginnen. Organist en componist Hans van Eijck, bassist en zanger Polle Eduard en de Engelse sologitarist Ray Fenwick krijgen gezelschap van drummer Martin Hage. In het kielzog van de Summer of Love en de flowerpower-rage scoort de band een hit met de eerste single Not just a flower in your hair, dat een deel van de charme ontleent aan een door een kinderkoor in het Nederlands gezongen passage: Ben je boos, pluk een roos en zet 'm op je hoed.

Kort daarop volgen de lp National disaster en de single We will be there, After Tea. Dan wordt de band getroffen door een aantal personele problemen. Eerst vertrekt Ray Fenwick, wiens werkvergunning is verlopen en die in Engeland aan de slag kan bij The Spencer Davis Group. Hij wordt vervangen door Ferry Lever. Niet lang daarna wordt Eduard gearresteerd vanwege drugsbezit. Als gevolg daarvan moet hij in de loop van 1968 enige tijd brommen en tijdens zijn afwezigheid wordt hij vervangen door twee oude bekenden uit deNederbiet-scene: zanger Frans Krassenburg (die in 1967 de Golden Earrings had verlaten) en bassist Henk Smitskamp die enige tijd daarvoor uit de Motions was gezet. After Tea parodieerde in 1968 de Heikrekels als de Martino's met de smartlap "Moest dat nou", om te laten zien dat het gemakkelijk was om in dit genre een hit te scoren. In mei 1969 wordt een collector's item op de markt gebracht in de vorm van een picture disc-single. Een groot juweliers-concern doet bij de aankoop van verlovingsringen een boekje en de single cadeau, met daarop de songs Desiree en The Wedding Song.

After Tea blijft inmiddels platen uitbrengen, maar het succes van de eerste twee singles wordt niet meer geëvenaard. In 1969 keert Hans van Eijck terug naar de Tee Set en zijn plaats wordt ingenomen door de Duitser Ulli Grün (uit de groep The Boots). Rond die tijd komt ook Ilja Gort als nieuwe drummer de band versterken (Martin Hage werd enige tijd vervangen door Pierre van der Linden). De band besluit dan het muzikale roer om te gooien en zich te concentreren op bluesrock en lp-georiënteerde muziek. In 1970 besluit ook Ferry Lever de overstap naar de Tee Set te maken, die inmiddels internationaal succes hebben met Ma belle amie. Hij wordt niet vervangen en After Tea gaat verder als trio zonder sologitarist. Maar door uitblijven van het grote succes besluit de band in 1971 de handdoek in de ring te gooien. Hun laatste hitje, het instrumentale Sun is hun zwanenzang.

Polle Eduard en Ulli Grün gaan verder in de groep Drama en Ilja Gort stort zich op zijn opnamestudio. Hij boekt groot succes met het componeren van reclametunes (onder andere Nescafé) en later met het maken van wijn.

After Tea occurs in mid 1967 when three members of the Tee Set after a conflict with singer Peter Tetteroo and manager Theo Cuppens decide to start their own. Organist and composer Hans van Eyck , bassist and singer Polle Eduard and English solo guitarist Ray Fenwick are joined by drummer Martin Hage . In the wake of the Summer of Love and the flower power craze scored the band a hit with the first single Not just a flower in your hair , that part of the charm derives from by a children's choir sung in Dutch passage: Are you angry, pick a rose and put it on your hat .

Shortly thereafter follow the lp National disaster and the single we will be there, After Tea . Then the band struck by some personnel problems. First leaves Ray Fenwick, whose work permit has expired and that in England get to work at The Spencer Davis Group . He is replaced by Ferry Liver . Not long after, Eduard arrested for drug possession. As a consequence, in the course of 1968 some time hum and during his absence, he was replaced by two old friends from the Lower Beet scene: vocalist French Krassenburg (in 1967 theGolden Earrings had left) and bassist Henk Smitskamp that some time before the Motions were put. After Tea parodied in 1968Heikrekels as Martino's the tearjerker "Did that now", to show that it was easy to work in this genre to score a hit. In May 1969 a collector's item on the market in the form of a picture disc single. A large group jewelers do when buying engagement rings a booklet and the single gift, containing the songs Desiree and The Wedding Song .

After Tea will now release records, but the success of the first two singles is not matched. In 1969 Hans van Eyck returns back to the Tee Set and his place is taken by the German Ulli Grün (from the group The Boots). Around that time also comes Ilja Gort as new drummer the band consolidate (Martin Hage was some time replaced by Pierre van der Linden ). The band decides the music to change course and to focus on blues and lp-oriented music. In 1970 Ferry Liver decision also switched to the Tee Set to make, now an international success with Ma belle amie . He is not replaced and After Tea continues as a trio without a lead guitarist. But by the lack of success the band decides in 1971 the towel into the ring to throw. Their latest hit, the instrumental Sun is their swansong.

Polle Eduard and Ulli Grün continue in the group Drama and Ilja Gort embarks on his recording. He booked great success with composing tunes advertising (including Nescafe) and later with making wine.

After Tea, from The Hague, was formed when keyboardist Hans van Eijck left the Tee-Set. He was joined by Ray Fenwick and Polle Eduard.
After Tea’s trademark was a poppy flower power sound.
Just after the band’s debut album “ National Disaster” was released van Eijck returned to the Tee-Set and Ray Fenwick returned to England to join the Spencer Davis group, replacing Steve Winwood. He was replaced by Ferry Lever.
Drummer Martin Hahe left the band and was replaced by Pierre van der Linden (later drummer of Focus) and later on by Ilja Gort.
The album “ National Disaster” was released in Germany as “ Bubblegum Beat Party”.
Keyboardist Uly Grun (ex-Boots) joined the band for the album “ Joint House Blues”. The sound moved towards progressive hard rock. The commercial success stopped from that moment and soon the band broke up.

by William Ruhlmann After Tea was a Dutch flower power band formed in the Hague in 1967 by Hans van Eijck (keyboards, guitar, vocals), U.K. native Ray Fenwick (guitar, vocals), Rob "Polle" Edward (bass, organ, vocals), and Martin Hage (drums). Their first hit was "Not Just a Flower in Your Hair," and they carried on, despite personnel changes, until the early '70s.

[-]by Richie Unterberger A definitive British rock journeyman, guitarist Ray Fenwick has played with numerous famous acts, though even most serious collectors would be hard pressed to identify him. He replaced future Yes guitarist Steve Howe in the Syndicates in the mid-'60s, and played a wild freakbeat solo on their single "Crawdaddy Simone," which comprised some of the most adventurous guitar work of the British Invasion era. He served time in Dutch groups After Tea and the Tee Set (who would later make the U.S. Top Five with "Ma Belle Amie") before joining the post-Stevie Winwood lineup of the Spencer Davis Group in the late '60s. There were also stints in the Guitar Orchestra with future Procol Harum lead guitarist Mick Grabham; Fancy, who had two Top 20 hits in the U.S. in 1974; the Ian Gillan Band; and, in the 1980s, Forcefield, which also featured Jan Akkerman and Cozy Powell. Fenwick also did a lot of work as a sessionman and producer. And, finally, he made one solo album in 1971, Keep America Beautiful, Get a Haircut, a run-of-the-mill mix of the era's popular hard rock/progressive-rock styles. J     J

• VINYL: Record appears virtually flawless
• A very minor scuff and very little else can appear on the vinyl.
• It should play without any noise over the flaw. The flaw is very hard to see.
• The cover looks as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age.
• Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable; however the artwork is as close to perfect as can be.
• No cut-out holes.
• Looks brand new just shrink wrap removed.  VG++: Very Good Plus Plus   (7 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• VINYL: Minor scuffs which are only slightly visible.
• There may be more than a few scuffs and NO Scratches
• COVER: Artwork is still as close to perfect as can be. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear!
• Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye.
• The corners can show white (where the artwork pasted slick was) meaning, slight wear.
• No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs can make this grade.  VG+:   Very Good Plus   (6 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• VINYL: Record shows wear, surface scuffs, or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences.
• Flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. If the flaws don't cause any surface noise, the vinyl can still make the VG+ grade.
• Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". 
• COVERS: A virtually clean cover, but may have small writing on it. 
• The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. The back of the cover usually gives away the age of the cover. Flat white paper will be somewhat yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage.
• Some minor wear to the seams or spine, but no tears or holes popping through.
• The corners will be slightly dog eared yet no crackly bends, defacing the artwork.
• May be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.
• A VG+ cover should have no more than 3 flaws mentioned. VG:  Very Good    (5 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• VINYL may not look very good, but it will STILL play very good.
• Almost always some surface noise when played.  Dynamics should still be excellent, overpowering the surface noise.
• Covers will look worn, used.  Some seam splitting.
• Some ring wear, where the ink has begun to wear off.
• May be some writing on the cover but no large letters in magic marker
• Labels, picture sleeves and/or covers may have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached
• Can look aged and yellowish due to contaminations in the air (sometimes looking like cigarette smoke). Still it should be decent.
• Groove wear and light scratches can affect the sound (deep enough to feel with a fingernail)
• Only 2 to 3 of these problems at the same time.
G+: Good Plus    (4 on a scale of 1 to 10)
G: Good    (3 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• Good does not mean Bad!
• VINYL record will look worn, dull, grayish, abused, but will play through without skipping.
• Will have significant distracting surface noise, and scratches and groove wear  are visible.
• COVER/SLEEVE will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine.  May be scotch tape repaired, no duct tape or masking tape.
• Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
• May have large magic marker writing on the cover F: Fair     (2 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• Cover will looked virtually trashed, but some artwork will still be noticed. If the artwork is worn, it is POOR and the cover is worthless.
P: Poor     (1 on a scale of 1 to 10)
• VINYL record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating.
• COVER/SLEEVE is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing.
