AGGREGATION "Mind Odyssey" (LHI US 1969/re Thorns Europe c1993). Fabulous double exposure acid trip concept LP which turns an LSD journey into a futuristic amusement park ride... or vice versa! As uncovered in an interview I did with the drummer some years back, Aggregation was not a studio project, but a real band of young formally schooled LA musicians who held a residency at Disneyland's Tomorrowland! Lee Hazlewood discovered them, and with some lyrical input from an acidhead girlfriend, this superbly written and arranged guitar/keyboard psych album resulted. In addition to being one of the most successful psychedelic (as opposed to progressive) concept LPs made, "Mind Journey" has over recent decades become one of the rarest and most expensive late '60s titles on a 'real' record label, occasionally selling for $1000+. That didn't stop me from recently aquiring an original, which means that my old vinyl reissue is here up for auction. Presumably because of the unavailability of original band members and Lee Hazlewood's long-running allergy towards his LHI label, no legit reissue exists of this legendary album to this day, and the Thorns reissue is the only vinyl repro in existence. Except for condensing the gatefold into a single sleeve, it is faithful to the original and captures the enchanted atmosphere of the 1969 LHI pressing. A must for any psych collection. Simple as that. Clean copy M-/M-.
