An eminently playable but slightly scruffy copy of Mr Domino's 1955 hit showing unfeelable scuffs and blemishes across both sides. It is however the very first pressing as evidenced by the Ain't It A Shame title, rather than Ain't That A Shame as it was soon to become upon both sides of the Atlantic, and the title on all London UK releases.
When the song was first recorded and released in April 1955, the title was printed as "Ain't It A Shame." However, as the song exploded into a massive crossover hit, it became colloquially known as "Ain't That A Shame" (partially fueled by Pat Boone’s squeaky-clean cover version). Imperial eventually gave in and changed the label text to "That" to match the public's memory.
This was also the first Fats Domino record that Imperial "doctored" by speeding up the master tape slightly. They wanted him to sound younger and "whiter" to appeal to the pop market and you can really hear the "chirpy" quality of his voice compared to his earlier, bluesier hits like "The Fat Man."
So very much one for the collectors shelf, with a very fetching Imperial sleeve in VG++ condition
