JUNGLE BIRD / BLACK SOUL ... 7-inch, 45rpm "special discotheque" single by AIRTO FOGO. Original French pressing on CBS label (2316), from 1974. Killer French funk double-sider by drummer Sylvain Krief (the mastermind behind the legendary Rupture - Israel Suite / Dominante En Bleu grail) recording this time, under an exotic pseudonym. For years, collectors thought Brazilian composer Waltel Branco was behind the Airto Fogo name but apparently not ;) Whatever, this is a desirable single featuring 2 amazing themes released 2 years before his Studio Davout Lp on French Decca Label. Syncopated, funky hip hop beats and congas from the intro of the fabulous JUNGLE BIRD into sleazy wah wah and basslines / brass stabs and fender rhodes solos a la Marc Moulin Placebo. The BLACK SOUL side was never included on his Lp and is arguably even better. Straight-up, funk 45 / bboy style groove... uptempo and delirious with frantic afro horn section / hammond and percussion breaks. Big rhythm hooks throughout. Great for DJs. Booming production sound. Our copy is originally from Robert Donat's Choc Promotion distribution company (hence the sticker on the sleeve) and comes with an original "postcard" insert to complete and return after grading the performance of the musicians, right down to the design of the crazy picture sleeve. Rare 45!!! 

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in strong VG+ condition with some hairlines. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with some ring creasing / ring dirt marks / promo sticker to front sleeve and some light edge wear in places. Minimal corner wear. Original postcard intact (see photo). Rare 45!!!
