Description
For sale is a superior original (not a repress) example of rare soul 45 "Help Me" by Al Wilson, on the Wand label, WND 1135. DJ promo in its original Wand sleeve. Matrix: 50622 "A" or "P"? and 50623, with a couple scribbly marks on each side that look like an "E" or an "M" on its side (see photos).
Condition:
Label on "**Help Me**" side has date "9/14/66" written in blue ink. Labels otherwise exhibit only light wear. Vinyl plays a perfect NM, visually grades out to VG++ owing to a few very light marks.
My grading system:
STILL SEALED : Jacket imperfections, if any, will be described. Vinyl guaranteed to be in unplayed condition.
M : I don't use this grade, on the assumption that no record or jacket is truly flawless.
M- : Vinyl appears unplayed, jacket bears no signs of wear. I rarely, if ever, use this grade.
NM : Like M-, with possible scintilla/whiff of an imperfection
VG++ : May have a couple very minor imperfections. (superficial marks that have little or no bearing on sound.) Jacket may have a couple very minor flaws.
VG+ : Like VG++, but with a few more light imperfections
VG : Several light imperfections, and possibly one or two more serious ones, such as small feelable scratches. Still plays well.
VG- : Will display numerous minor imperfections and/or feelable scratches that affect playback quality. Between you and me, you could do better.
GOOD : What I consider pretty poor... numerous major imperfections. I generally don't sell items in this range unless they are of major significance.
This is one of several superior condition soul 45s I am selling from the estate of a man who ran a gospel/Christian radio station from his basement in the 1960s. Many non-gospel labels sent him promos, which he impeccably kept in filing cabinets until his estate sale last Fall, where I acquired this.
