ALAIN BONGO Brand New Man US LP.
This album is a curiosity. Alain’s mother is Patience Dabany, who had connections with many American musicians. Alain’s father was president of the central African nation of Gabon. The story goes that James Brown and his band stopped in the capital of Libreville on their way to the Rumble In The Jungle boxing match in Kinshasa in 1974, and Alain convinced the band to back him up on his album. That’s right...This is James Browns band playing on this album! Alain never pursued a career in music, and instead converted to Islam, changed his name to Ali and pursued a career in politics. He is now the president of Gabon just like his father.
Record is conservatively graded at Very Good Plus using the Goldmine standard. Record surface show very faint scuffs that don't affect the listening experiences. Surface noise is evident upon playing between tracks, but does not overpower the music otherwise. The label has no discernible ring wear or discoloration. Please see photos.
Cover is conservatively rated as Very Good Plus using the Goldmine standard. The cover has slight signs of wear, with a slight ring, a marred corner but no splits. There is NO writing, tape or stickers (or their residue) on the cover. Please see photos.
Original sleeve included.
Shipped with USPS Media Mail; the record will be placed separate from the cover in a MoFi inner sleeve, and both cover and inner sleeve will be slid into a 4 mil outer sleeve. Cardboard or foam sheets will sandwich the items and be wrapped in a record mailer.
