Obscure Italian issue of this seldom heard and beautiful soundtrack. Orchestra directed by Christian Gaubert (of The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane OST infamy) with Madly's score written by Francis Lai. Mood music from the cult film directed by Roger Kahane co-produced and starring Alain Delon with Mireille Darc and Jane Davenport "Somewhere In The Night" is a superb funk theme with instrumentation that reminds us of a mix between Haschisch Party by Georges Garvarentz and Sexopolis by Jean Pierre Mirouze. Lots of groovy rhythms with bboy drums / organ breaks / bowed cello motifs etc. Great for DJs. Disc cut loud with big production sound. "Rencontre Madly" is a short psychedelic theme with bewitching female scat chorus over hip hop beats and trippy folk rock sounds. "Final" is a long classical inspired suite in 3 phases. Very cinematic with a particular, early '70s French baroque lounge atmosphere. The mellow funky opening movement has counterpoint harmony too. We have recorded most of SideB for our mp3 soundclip. Striking sleeve artwork showing a bemused Alain Delon :)
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, strong VG+ as downgraded due to old faint fusion marks from compression with the original plastic inner / a few other faint hairlines but otherwise, looks barely played like old deadstock / disc cut loud with big production sound but all themes do play with varying degrees of background noise but mostly to "Socrate" - the 1st theme of sideB and "La Nuit" - the 2nd theme on sideA but these trax are not important
SLEEVE - original laminated soft card sleeve is strong VG+ with common general wear / still quite sharp looking regardless of some corner and edge wear in places / mini, rectangular 'cut-out' to upper area of the open side / some laminate lifting or the beginning of peeling to bottom right corner / spine intact / no seam splits / ring wear and ring creasing to both sides
LABEL - still bright looking with some natural age discoloration or ink fading / a few faint old dirt marks from storage
After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)

Mp3 created via a Vestax portable with protective slipmat and basic Audacity software but records always sound much better on a proper hi-fi system ;)
