ALAN AVON (& THE TOY SHOP): These are the reasons/Night to remember (Vogue DV 11 103, GERMANY 1970)



This band hailed from Stoke-on-Trent & was unconnected to The Toyshop group that had a single (“Say goodbye to yesterday”) out on Polydor in 1969 . Alan Avon was previously known as the lead singer for Hedgehoppers Anonymous. Their sole single came out on the small Concord label. The A-side is forgettable, but “Night to remember” is fantastic psych known through various compilations such as “Hen’s Teeth”, “Rubble” and “Chocolate Soup”. Not many do know that it also got a very scarce release in Germany on the Vogue label. Unfortunately only with a title-sleeve, but highly desirable anyway, as the U.K. issue already goes into a three-figure price. For your convenience I have supplied here also a picture of the band as well.
