Alan Hull's first solo album sounds like a Lindisfarne album, thankchrist.  Compared to the group's last effort, Dingly Dell, I would say that it's arguably an improvement not only in songcraft but also production-wise.  A number of the tracks have that appealing Neil Young/Harvest boom-boom-chick to the bass and drums keeping things simple and groovy.  And its got more muscle with the guitars sounding Mick Ronsonish on the opening track.  The following Justanothersadsong is a jolly singalong in the vein of the 'farne's Alright on the Night.  The kitchen sink approach works when the statements are concise.  Instrumentals and solo tracks fit comfortably with the more fleshed out full band performances.  There are a bunch of great tunes on the second side: Numbers, Drug Song, Blue Murder and the truly devasting I Hate to See You Cry.
