ALAN SORRENTI: ARIA
A genuine and super rare 1st pressing of this monster rare Italian Prog / Psych-Folk oddity. On the Italian Harvest Label (There was no UK release) the album features the talents of free jazz pioneer and sometimes member of The Mothers Jean Luc Ponty. In superb condition throughout (see below for full grading).
“Alan Sorrenti released his first album in 1972 on Harvest. He had a welsh mother and had spent much time in Wales as a child. Aria is an exceptional album, with two different sides: the first containing the long title track, a dreamy suite starting with acoustic guitar and based on the marvellous instrument-like voice of Sorrenti, and exploding in the final part with a memorable violin solo by Jean Luc Ponty.”

SLEEVE: EX
The heavy gauge unlaminated gatefold sleeve is in superb condition. There is some light edge wear (the spine is unaffected by this) and a couple of wrinkles to the rear of the gatefold (see pictures). The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with some slight ringwear to the right hand side of the gatefold. There is a small patch of discolouration to the top of the inside of the right hand side of the gatefold.
RECORD: EX
There are a couple of super light sleeve removal marks. There are, of course, no scratches or feelable marks. The record plays through superbly without sustained background or repetitive pops or clicks. A real joy of a mental album.
The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
