The record you are looking at is the last word in the connoisseur audiophile pressings, made from the original analog master tapes, and pressed on the ultra-high-quality HQ-180 gram virgin vinyl.  This is probably the very final generation of the analog pressings, before the original master tapes start disintegrating and deteriorating beyond repair. Oh, I am sure the digital recordings will continue to be made from the enhanced and digitally restored tapes, but – as we all know by now – this is simply not the same thing anymore.

If you don’t like your Blues played on – yikes ! – heavily compressed MP3, WAV or FLAC  digital file formats (an audio straightjacket the recording industry is trying to impose on us all), then this gorgeous, luscious, full-bodied and thoroughly decadent analog sound is for you. Sit back, relax, put the stylus onto the record, take a light sip of Courvoisier, cuddle up with your significant other, and let the gorgeous sounds of one of the greatest Blues artists fill your room, and your mind.  But you’d better rush – most of these limited-edition pressings are now themselves a part of the history: most of these titles are no longer made or distributed,  and the few remaining copies in circulation are being snatched away by the Blues collectors worldwide as we speak. This is it, folks – perhaps the last time you hear this album the way it was really, really, meant to be heard.

It's not as if Albert King hadn't tasted success in his first decade and a half as a performer, but his late-'60s/early-'70s recordings for Stax did win him a substantially larger audience. During those years, the label began earning significant clout amongst rock fans through events like Otis Redding's appearance at the Monterey International Pop Festival and a seemingly endless string of classic singles. When King signed to the label in 1966, he was immediately paired with the Stax session team Booker T. & the MG's. The results were impressive: "Crosscut Saw," "Laundromat Blues," and the singles collection Born Under a Bad Sign were all hits. Though 1972's I'll Play the Blues for You followed a slightly different formula, the combination of King, members of the legendary Bar-Kays, the Isaac Hayes Movement, and the sparkling Memphis Horns was hardly a risky endeavor. The result was a trim, funk-infused blues sound that provided ample space for King's oft-imitated guitar playing. King has always been more impressive as a soloist than a singer, and some of his vocal performances on I'll Play the Blues for You lack the intensity one might hope for. As usual, he more than compensates with a series of exquisite six-string workouts. The title track and "Breaking Up Somebody's Home" both stretch past seven minutes, while "I'll Be Doggone" and "Don't Burn Down the Bridge" (where King coaxes a crowd to "take it to the bridge," James Brown-style) break the five-minute barrier. Riding strutting lines by bassist James Alexander, King runs the gamut from tough, muscular playing to impassioned cries on his instrument, making I'll Play the Blues for You one of a handful of his great Stax sets.'

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in a hi-grade MFSL PVC inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          In addition, the record is pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(e)           The album comes in its original 4-page Analogue Productions insert

(f)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

-         Cover has two corners slightly dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.
