Live Wire / Blues Power captures Albert King live at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium in June 1968, with King’s huge guitar tone and economical, biting style right out in front. Recorded just as the blues was reaching a much broader rock audience, this became one of the defining live documents of King’s career.

The six-track set stretches well beyond conventional studio-length blues performances, particularly the extended “Blues Power” and “Blues at Sunrise,” giving King room to work off the band and the audience. The album also includes his treatment of Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man,” along with “Night Stomp,” “Please Love Me” and “Look Out.”

This is an original 1968 U.S. Stax STS-2003 pressing manufactured by Monarch Record Mfg. Co. The deadwax carries ST-0003 & ST-0004, the Monarch circled MR symbol and Monarch job number △12441 XSBV 129862-1C / XSBV 129863-1C.

PROVENANCE: This is part of the estate of my best friend of 42 years who passed away on April 27th from non-hodgkin lymphoma. Like me, Jeff was a serious collector of music in his younger days. While I grew up in Los Angeles, he grew up in San Francisco and most of his "estate" is SF and early rock and blues based. He likely worked at the Fillmore when this was recorded. Most of his albums are all first state, original releases, and some are rare anomalies. I will be slowly listing the albums from his estate, and all final proceeds will go to Jeff's family. Like ALL my records sold on ebay, this record has been PLAY TESTED. Side one has a VERY light surface scratch running from the outer edge toward the deadwax. On the very quiet passages, a VERY LIGHT tick can occasionally be heard, but through most of the album it is effectively inaudible and there are no skips. Side two is clean.

The jacket is shown in the photographs. I have added a new acid-free innersleeve for the record and a protective acid-free outer sleeve. All photographs shown are of the actual item offered.

While this should be obvious, needless to say, everyone's system is different, and I cannot account for what it will do in your playback environment, but on my system, it played exactly as described above, and as such is sold "as is".
