Description
Collectable blues USA Chess vintage record. The music was recorded 1953 to 1961 & the first Chess USA issue was mono in 1969. This listed album is simulated stereo and was issued late 1970s.
Online Review: Although Albert King is pictured on the front cover and has the lion's share of tracks on this excellent compilation, six of the fourteen tracks come from Rush's short lived tenure with the label and are some of his very best. Chronologically, these are his next recordings after the Cobra sides and they carry a lot of the emotional wallop of those tracks, albeit with much loftier production values with much of it recorded in early stereo. Rush's performance of "So Many Roads" (featuring one of the greatest slow blues guitar solos of all time) should not be missed.
My Review: Albert King is great – however Otis Rush records are harder to find and the Otis Rush music on this record is delightful blues. Albert and Otis are not performing together – each track is an individual blues music gem.
Vinyl Grade: EX, excellent, lovely gloss, a couple of light lines only.
Sound Quality: EX, the sound quality is excellent with no background surface noise, fully play tested to check.
Cover: EX, excellent cover, flat, no edge wear and still in shrink wrap, has deletion cut top left.
Labels: clear, no spindle wear.
Records graded directly under very bright table light for the visual grade. Sound quality checked by playing to ensure that visual grade and sound quality are consistent.
Mint M and Near Mint NM: Looks perfect as new. N and NM is only appropriate for new reissue records and not for vintage vinyl that has been played, regardless of how perfect it may look.
Excellent Plus +EX: Lovely gloss, no visible scratches, scuffs or marks. Has been played but has been handled well and still in great condition. (highest grade that I use for vintage vinyl)
Excellent EX: Lovely gloss, shows some slight signs of wear, including light trace/hairlines from the inner sleeve, light scuffs or very light marks that you would not expect to hear as surface noise.
Very Good Plus +VG: Shows a few more very light marks than is allowable for EX so not quite EX. These signs of use would be expected to cause some light surface noise but not to detract from the music.
Very Good VG: Shows light scratches and marks and some that you would expect to cause surface noise, especially in soft passages, between tracks and during a song?s intro and ending but not so much as to overpower the music which can still be enjoyed.
Very Good Minus -VG: Shows significant wear and marks that you would expect to cause noticeable surface noise that detracts from the music.
Good G: In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up records lacking much of the original gloss and with many scratches and marks that you would expect to cause very noticeable surface noise and clicks/pops that seriously detract from enjoyment of the music.
