Drawn from a pivotal point in Jamaican-American jazz pianist Monty Alexander's catalogue, this set captures the easy dialogue between his smart jazz phrasing and rolling reggae rhythms. While joined by Ernest Ranglin, the sessions carry a relaxed vibe, opening with a supple take on 'Let's Stay Together' and closing with the earthy lift of 'Limbo'. In between, 'Love and Happiness' stands out as a near-perfect slow burner, while 'Knowing That We Were Meant for Each Other' offers more compulsive movement. Newly remixed, the record retains its original analogue warmth and is an assured meeting of two distinct musical voices that has long been a digger's favourite.
