c 1969 Alexander "Skip" Spence Solo LP "Oar", original 1st issue, Columbia CS 9863
NOTES: Moby Grape's Skip Spence recorded this in Texas, on his way back to California after being held in a Hospital after a breakdown....This has a serious cult following, and it is BRILLIANT music.....Nobody got it at the time, so not many copies were made...I bought this copy used in 1970, as a backup to another copy I bought when this was new and just issued...Consequently, this copy barely got played the last 44 years, and is in nice condition...side "A" has a rub ( Not really a scratch...see close up detail photo ) That doesn't really go into the grooves much...I have no idea what would do this...a fingernail rub while taking out / putting into Jacket, maybe?...It is shallow...more like a scuff, not a typical sharp deep scratch that ALL are familiar with...other than that, there is a few "tiny" VERY minor scratches, you have to hunt, in the reflections, to find....Minor...Otherwise disc is VERY clean, hardly played...Side "B" has a few VERY tiny scratches, you also have to hunt to find, otherwise, looks new, unplayed....these keep it from being Mint, But it is VERY clean and plays well...
Jacket is CLEAN.....Has small hole punch, from album cut out ( nobody bought these when they were first issued )......side of cover has a 3/4" tear thru starting at the sleeve opening....Looks like an ancient piece of clear tape on bottom edge, center, of the cover ( looks like a taped small edge tear, done decades ago )...has a small amount of "Ring rub" top and bottom, but not much...it is pretty clean and attractive...comes with it's original Columbia dust sleeve...
These original issues sell for $380.00 to $450.00 and up ( I saw one sell for $500.00 ) Even the c 1999 reissue is collectible.....This is the ORIGINAL 1st issue from 1969, and will go way up in Value...we will put a very reasonable auction price, on ebay...PRICE REDUCED FROM $295 TO $165....

GRADING

Still Sealed/New: Never opened...still in original shrinkwrap and brand new....any tears in the shrinkwrap will be noted in description.
NM : Played once or twice, no flaws, but a remote ever-so-slight amount of that shiny luster may be gone. Jacket will be virtually flawless, slightest signs of wear, maybe one bumped corner, or a hint of edge wear. Shrinkwrap, if still on, may have some stickers on it or minor tearing.
VG++: Record may have some marks (very, very light scratching or some light sleeve scuffing) that may sound briefly in a quieter passage. The jacket may have the very lightest signs of ring wear, some light corner or edge wear, maybe an old price sticker or two, that should peel off with the proper guidance.
VG+: Record will have some light marks (light scratches and light sleeve scuffs), and it might make an occasional pop or crackle in parts, but will not even come close to overwhelming the listening experience. Still a very desirable grade.. As for the jacket, it will start to show more signs of wear than a VG++ jacket, the ring wear may be slightly more evident, the edge wear or corner wear may be more defined as well.
VG: Record may have several scratches and scuffs, though aside from some popping and crackling, will still be an enjoyable listen. No skips here. The jacket will have far more wear than the previous grades, such as: edge wear to the point of some seam splitting(the kind that can be repaired with tape or other means), ring wear(not terrible, but still distracting from the image), edge and corner wear, minor writing or a few stickers, or other similar defects.
VG- : Not terrible, usually represents 1 or 2 "ugly" marks or scratches, might be a little sketchy in a few spots, other than that would fair as a VG record. The jacket will show significant wear - ring wear, seam splits(still should be able to be taped up for repair), some writing and/or stickers, edge and corner wear, or other similar defects.
Good/Fair/Poor: Filler only, not recommended for listening.
I ship all records using a cardboard slat on each side of the record. The disk is always shipped outside the sleeve, in the shipping box.
