I'll be listing some great stuff over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out. I'm mad about music so everything listed has been played all the way through (at least once!). I do try and describe every record in as much detail as relevantly possible and will not ignore/overlook flaws in order to hike up the price! My top grade is Excellent +++ and this is for a basically almost perfect record (rest assured anything I grade at Excellent or above would probably be graded as MINT by a lot of other sellers)...records in this sort of condition do not come along that often, so I'm surprised to see so many graded as Mint or Near Mint (!!!????) which are mainly completely misleading. Even with new vinyl, as soon as you drag the vinyl out of it's sleeve those annoying hairline scratches appear and sometimes worse and even the packaging has wear/flaws. Anyway, I do pride myself in being as honest as possible and think if I was buying this record what would I want to know.
Exremely hard to find in any condition ALEXANDER SPENCE "Oar" 1969 USA Columbia Records CS 9831 360 Sound Stereo 12 track classic LP, his only solo effort apparently recorded in Tennessee shortly after his release from a mental institution. He's the writer, the player of all the instruments, the singer, the producer....the music speaks for itself! However, the whole thing was a complete disaster for Columbia as the record allegedly sold less than a thousand copies...unbelievable really.
Condition
Sleeve
The thick card sleeve has very light ringwear to the front and back sleeves. All four corners have wear. There is wear in places on the top and bottom edges and on the spine. It still has good sharp edges, excellent opening edges, and a very good spine which is still readable. There are the odd discolouration spots on the white rear sleeve and a small neatly written and fading name at the bottom of the rear sleeve. The fact is these US card sleeves are so robust they stand up very well. Overall I grade the sleeve as a Very Good+ (if not better)(graded properly)
Inner Sleeve
The original Columbia records company sleeve advertising other records from 1969 by other bands (Blood Sweat and Tears, The Zombies and Johnny Cash) is in Excellent condition (if not better)(graded properly)
Vinyl
The record is in truly superb condition and plays all the way through without skips,jumps,hiss,pops and little or no background noise, just the occasional faint click here and there. There are a few small surface marks...and a few hairline marks/scuffs when viewed at an angle under a bright light. None of this detracts the listening pleasure. Overall I grade the vinyl as Excellent (if not better)(graded properly).
Labels
The labels are in Excellent++ condition.
