Label Conditions: All four clean and attractive with just a light stain mark on side one. Spindle marks range from light to moderate (and between). These are fine and quite faint and are only really seen with angled viewing. Clearly this set has been played and enjoyed but the sound quality is very high with very little unwanted at all from the four sides.

Cat Number: SRAK 511.

Mode / Speed: Stereo / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of these Records: 125 / 132 grams. These about average for it’s era.

Rarity: SCARCE: like most albums from this legendary bluesman’s catalogue, this is elusive and especially so with a near mint example of the book. And highly worthy of note for collectors, is the cover has Roger Dean artwork and this must rank as one of his lesser-known and rarer pieces that is seldom seen or offered.

Brief Info: A wonderful double set featuring an all-star lineup within the blues and jazz world as seen above. This offers top quality materal from the 1960s which is beautifully packaged within a Roger Dean designed cover – one the least-known and seldom seen examples of his work. Many lists of his album artwork omits this one, so clearly, this is far less known. Korner, known as the father of white blues, this vintage varied set should appeal to his fans. The cover has a little wear but the records, although played a number of times, still offer superb sound with little unwanted at all. The inclusion of the book in pristine condition is a huge bonus, this is often missing altogether. Overall, a fine and enjoyable copy.

Cover Grade and Format: VERY GOOD(++): a gatefold format with a laminated front and back. The inside is matt finished. Printed and made in England by Garrod & Lofthouse and includes the 12-page book.

Laminate – Front & Back: The laminate retains a nice shine and clarity but like so many double sets, has some record impression and some creases (but not very many). A little scuffing is seen too around the rim, again not many. Light end burring near the bottom edges and a couple of tip-ins look likely, but reasonably inconspicuous. Most-all is fully adhered with no lifting or blisters and that lesser-known Roger Dean graphic looks impressive. So a little ageing and blemishes, but overall, still quite attractive.

Cover Inner Gatefold: A little mild burring to the ends but little else to really fault.

Top Edges: A little thickening to the end panels, generally still neat with any wear modestly light.

Bottom Edges: Some rubbing and thickening on these resting edges.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Some thickening but no feathering, the front especially are fairly sharp, both are guaranteed untrimmed. Records enter on these two edges.

Spine and Text: A little patchy peeling, very small indeed. Still solid, straight with minimal compression, a natural crease from opening is impossible to avoid. All text is present if a little sunken into the fold crease.

Corners: Moderate wear and rubbing, less so on the spine pair which are both neat and sharp.

Cover Summary: My pictures may flatter a little, but this is still a reasonable and still quite attractive cover. Double sets put more pressure on sleeves and few remain anything like pristine. So some wear which means this is not one for the more discerning collector, but it should please many collectors. The fine sounding records and elusive book compensate.

The Inner Sleeves: Two white unlined inners that are not a perfect match came with this record, both in very fine condition.

The Book: MINT(-): a 12-page book held together with the two original staples. These have tarnished a little, but barely even show. A black and white book featuring a host of information on the man, the artists and history. All pages undamaged, clean and fresh with no creasing, any marks minuscule. Finding this better will prove immensely difficult.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(-) to NEAR EXCELLENT: a fine visual pair that are clean with fine shine, intense black and solidly pressed. Some fine surface marks with a tiny few more apparent with odd scuff or two – barely anything sounds and both records play very well indeed. Visually fine records that have clearly been played a number of times, but should please many collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Both records play above their very respectable visual grading with very little to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is high with a fine dynamic range and detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal and no signficant or clicks were noted and overall, a very fine clean pressing for a fairly difficult album. I found this a very enjoyable set on play-grade, my first copy ever, never even seen it before. My attention was grabbed by the cover which took only a few seconds to register as a possible Roger Dean. This set could prove quite difficult to find significantly better and merits high recommendation.

All records I offer on Ebay are cleaned on a professional VPI-17 vacuum machine before play-grading for the cleanest and best possible sound and will include a brand new lined inner and protective cover too. The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. Really rare and expensive albums will even be Double Boxed if deemed necessary and possible. When larger boxes are used, the thick record and stiffener ‘sandwich’ is then thickly embedded into bubble-wrap to bulk out the record inside the box to centre the item inside to reduce the risk of damage still further. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
