Eine Reihe von Zugaben, die alle mit größter Magie gespielt werden; zusätzlich zu den drei sentimentaleren Knüllern auf Seite eins - so haben wir keinen Grund, die Stimmung zu unterbrechen, wenn wir es nicht wünschen. Auf der Suche nach mehr sportlicher Leistung können wir weiterhören; hier denke ich, dass der Albeniz-Tango vielleicht etwas weniger athletisch, etwas sentimentaler sein könnte (und wie um alles in der Welt braucht man zwei Leute, um das Fiocco-Stück zu arrangieren? - die Autorenschaft liest sich fast wie jene, die die nicht so guten Popsongs schreiben). Aber die Suche nach Athletik wird in "The Bee" so sehr belohnt, und in den Werken von Fibich, Ponce und Drdla noch weit mehr: das ist zweifellos die Art, wie man Zugaben spielt. Und, außer einem sicherlich unnötigen Schnitt im Fibich - man hätte es so belassen sollen wie aufgenommen - ein überzeugender Sound; und eine vernünftige Aufteilung des Ganzen für dieses Genre. Campoli kombiniert das Wissen um solche Stücke mit einer ausgereiften klassischen Technik, wie ich sie mir von keinem anderen Geiger vorstellen kann, er spielt die Musik mit Sympathie, Zuneigung und großem Können. Der Drdla klingt wirklich hinreißend schön ... und die Aufnahme ist wirklich sehr gut. (Vol.2)
A succession of encore pieces, all played with the utmost enchantment; and with the three more sentimental show-stoppers isolated on side one - so that we have no need to break the mood unless we wish. In search of more athletic achievement, we can turn over; here I think perhaps the Albeniz Tango might have been a little less athletic, a little more sentimental (and how on earth does it take two people to arrange the Fiocco piece? - the credit reads almost like one of those committees that write the not-so-good pop songs). But the search for athleticism is rewarded so fully in "The Bee", and for sentiment so fully in the Fibich, Ponce, and Drdla: this is indubitably how to play encores. And, bar a surely unnecessary tape-join in the Fibich, how to record them – a winning sound; and a sensible disposition of the whole on a medium-play. (for Vol.1)
He combines a knowledge of such pieces with a matured classical technique as does no other violinist I can think of, and he plays the music with sympathy and affection and immense skill. The Drdla sounds quite ravishingly beautiful ... and the recording is very good indeed. (for Vol..2)

Elman still plays with charm and elegance ... In this batch of pieces, where the encore wags the concert, so to speak, Elman and Seiger combine war-horses and novelties in captivating manner. I was charmed by the exotic "From San Domingo", by Arthur Benjamin, with its echoes of guitars and popular songs. Charles Miller’s "Cubanaise" ... (its) vivacious rhythms and sonorous middle section are most appealing. Perhaps the item that most listeners will fall for is Elman’s arrangement of the so-called "Canto Amoroso" by Sammartini, an encore which Elman has made peculiarly his own. - Gramophone
