ALHAJI K. FRIMPONG – ABRABO – RARE AFROBEAT ORIGINAL - 1984
Rare original Ghana afrobeat record by the great K. Frimpong, different feel than his early recordings with their earthy raw spirit. Recorded and privately released 1984 in Germany, one year after the 1983 coup d’état, Ghana’s darkest year when the economy collapsed, and the record industry with it. Most musicians tried their luck in Ivory coast or Nigeria, and several went to Germany. Even though the sound is different, K. Frimpong maintained his melancholic deep spirit in his voice…. Hard to find in any condition, this is a great copy (with only little nose at the start of B1, otherwise excellent).
