Description
Rock The World Enterprises (NR5974) private label 1976 album release from THE ALL SAVED FREAK BAND titled BRAINWASHED. Legendary release was one of the originating groups of Contemporary Christian Rock Music. They featured the guitar of GLENN SCHWARTZ of PACIFIC, GAS & ELECTRIC and THE JAMES GANG. This has become a crossover album, also highly sought by the psych, hippy and rock collectors. They were controversial and the details are well documented at several on-line sites. A review by Ken Scott of Vintage Vinyl Jesus Music pretty much sums this one up:
"This is a tough band to figure out. With some of the best Christian 70s rock by anyone anywhere their music is stunningly powerful with a dark, creeping psychrock menace achieved via songwriting and guitar/organ arrangements that spell big league all the way. If "For Christians, Elves & Lovers" is the mellower side of ASFB, "Brainwashed" is the flip side of the coin. This album is non-stop sizzling stuff with plenty of heavy organ, harmonica and, of course, Glenn Schwartz's searing guitar fireworks. This is an incredible album folks. So much variety here, too - it never gets boring."
VG+ condition vinyl only due to several very light micro-scratches and light sleeve storage marks. It has like new lustre and clean labels with no spindle marks. I just finished playing it and would grade it NM- sonically with beautiful fidelity. VG+ condition jacket - it's hard to find this without ring and seam wear and this is no exception though it is lighter than most with no splits. It does include the inner lyric sleeve that does have some age browning and a small split at the bottom.
