Description
ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND "AT FILLMORE EAST" original promo pressing of 1971 U.S. Capricorn gatefold stereo double LP- pink labels w/2 promo stickers on front cover. Stereo SD 2-802. M-/M.
For their third album, the Allman Brothers delivered a powerful 2-LP set recorded live at the Fillmore East in New York City on March 12th & 13th, 1971. Without the constraints of a recording studio, the band was truly in their own element as they stretched out on such Blues standards as "Statesboro Blues" & "Stormy Monday" or on group originals such as "Whipping Post". The group delivered their powerful 2 guitar, 2 drum attack with Duane Allman & Dickie Betts trading licks with Butch Trucks & Jai Johanny Johanson laying down the heavy beat. The group was rounded out with Berry Oakley on bass & one of the the great white blues singers- Gregg Allman on keyboards & vocals. This album defined the meaning of "Southern Rock". Original 1971 stereo pressing on pink label Capricorn Records distributed by Atco w/2 promo stickers on the front cover- a 2" round day-glo orange sticker in the upper left stating "Promotional Copy/Not For Sale" & a 2" x 3" yellow & black sticker listing suggested cuts "Hot 'Lanta" & "Statesboro Blues" in red lettering in the upper right.
7 tracks- Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, Stormy Monday, You Don't Love Me, Hot 'Lanta, In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed & Whipping Post.
Gatefold cover has minor wear on the edges plus the 2 promo stickers on the front cover. It is bright & intact with no split seams- rated at a strong near MINT. Color pictures of the group in action are inside the gatefold. The records play perfectly with no scratches or scuffs. Very few spins on these records. The pink Capricorn labels denote that it is an original pressing from 1971 distributed by Atco. Records are in MINT condition. You will be hard pressed to find a better copy of this record!
