THE BANDS first proper studio album following the deaths of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. Remarkably and contrary to what had been predicted the record was a major critical and commercial success allowing guitarist Dickie Betts to dominate the proceedings with some truly amazing playing including slide and dobro.
The songs too, were a breath of fresh air spearheaded by the likes of 'Ramblin' Man', the glorious 7 minute long instrumental 'Jessica' and the breezy upbeat 'Southbound'. If ever a band could have come back from near obliteration stronger than ever then this was proof indeed.
Highly recommended if you've never heard and a nice copy.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: Capricorn, UK, 1973
Vinyl: Superb clean and shiny condition. No spindle marks visible on labels and very little signs of any use elsewhere. Grades as near shop fresh MINT!
Cover: Again, no signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated gate fold cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is straight, stiff and completely uncrushed. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 42 years after release. Grades as MINT!
