Description
The Allman Brothers: "The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East" 1971, USA/Capricorn 2-802 MONO. Discs are both EX with some light scuffs, they both play M- with no surface noise. Gatefold cover has a title sticker and a special "DJ/Monaural" sticker on the front, some light wear to the seams, this is strong VG+. Wow! It's a MONO white label demo copy of their classic LP! And what a killer it is... three and a half decades later, the guitar interplay between Duane Allman and Dickie Betts on tracks like "Whipping Post" and "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" is still without equal. A stereo white label edition of the album also exists, this would have been what was sent to record stores, record reviewers and FM radio stations. This mono edition was certainly only issued to AM radio stations as they broadcast in mono, but with all these long tracks... what AM radio station would have found anything suitable for rotation? The label can't possibly have produced many of these. Rarest Allman Brothers item on the planet, and the shape will likely never be beat!
