Most were remasters from original antique & vintage records and master tapes. All music and photos for this impressive box set were licensed exclusively to Selecciones del Reader’s Digest. Likely the remastering, remixing, pressing and distribution were done by RCA Argentina / USA.

This is an imported box set, made in Argentina.

This box set includes and informative 25-page booklet with 55 vintage & antique photos (black & white, and sepia), 7 illustrations, play lists, song lists, musician index and more.

The booklet is titled “Presencia viva del tango” written by Ulyses Petit de Murat.

Inside the booklet is the original numbered (No. 151848) Garantia certificate, confirming the quality inspection, and authenticity. It has 2 embossed “RCA” seals.

The back of the Guarantee certificate has instructions for proper handing & care of the records and advice on using a good phonograph stylist/needle.

Each inner sleeve features a color photograph of bronze sculptures by notable Argentine artist V. V. Salatino.

Each bronze has a tango dancers theme.

(These are photos of bronze sculptures, I am not selling actual bronze pieces. I’ve seen this artist’s work at an art auction in Miami and in Mexico City. They typically bring final bids of $8K or more.)

In good condition, especially for being 51 years old.

I haven’t done any cleaning or restoration of this box set.

I leave that up to the buyer.

It has surface wear, a few small tears on front panel and one scuff mark where a price sticker was (see photo).

The slip case has an 8-inch seam split on top edge.(See photo)

Minor corner dings, no ring wear.

No ink pen writing, no highlighter markings.

Slip case spine is good to very good, no fading.

The inner box has a folding panel that shows the song selections on discs 1 thru 10. Disc 11 has details on the inner sleeve & record labels. The information panel has one small seam split.

The booklet has minor surface wear, scuffs, minor creases and a little edge tear along top edge. No missing pages, no folded page corners, no ink pen or highlighter markings.

No holes, tape glue.

The spine is good, the binding is tight. The 2-staple binding has no rust or oxidation.

Lots of excellent historic photos, perfect for archives, suitable for framing, etc.

The Guarantee certificate has a small

printing ink spot on the back side.

The inner sleeves has surface wear and minor creases, a few have minor seam splits. All inner sleeves are suitable for framing if the buyer wishes to display the photos of tango themed bronze sculptures on each of the 11 sleeves.

No folded corner, no holes, no ink pen or highlighter markings.

The record discs are in excellent condition, near-mint condition.

All records play well, no skips, no warping.

The labels are in excellent shape,

the center holes are clean.

No mold or mildew.

This vintage box set rarely appears on eBay. Currently there’s one set listed on Amazon at $203 plus shipping.

There are several of them listed for sale on Mercado Libre site in Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently ranging from 800 Arg. Pesos ($37 U.S.) to 2,650 Arg. Pesos ($71 U.S.).

U.S. buyers, Note: Though it’s cheaper to buy one of those in Argentina, expect to pay high shipping fee, insurance fee, possibly U.S. Customs import duty fee, as well a long shipping time with possible difficulty in tracking your package.
