Original 2 LP recording of Beethoven's 'Choral' Symphony No.9 sung by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Elisabeth Hongen, Hans Hopf and Otto Edelmann with the Orchestra and Chorus of the 1951 Bayreuth Festival conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler. It was actually recorded live in the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth only 6 years after the end of the second world war and was considered a momentous performance from a momentous age.

This is a very rare recording in mint condition. I have not played this record but it looks UNPLAYED!!

BOTH COVERS  -  MINT (NO, REPEAT NO LAMINATE LIFT). The dark patch on the photographs are my reflections when taking the shots!

GRADING OF RECORDS

RECORDS ARE VISUALLY GRADED UNDER A STRONG DESK-LIGHT AND ONLY PLAYED IF A SCRATCH CHECK IS REQUIRED. I HAVE NOT PLAYED THIS RECORD. I DO NOT CLEAN RECORDS - AS I FIND MY CUSTOMERS PREFER TO CLEAN THEIR RECORDS TO THEIR STANDARDS.

I DO NOT PUT POOR RECORDS ON EBAY, UNLESS THEY ARE OF EXCEPTIONAL RARITY.

VINYL GRADING

VERY GOOD - The disc has been played quite a few times but still plays OK, with some surface noise and has a few surface marks, but nothing serious.

EXCELLENT - The disc has been played a handful of times and appears in great shape, with only very lightsurface marks.

NEAR MINT - The disc appears to be unplayed but is betrayed by 1 or 2 spindle marks on the label or perhaps displays only the very, very lightest of surface marks, viewable only under close scrutiny.

MINT - The disc is unplayed and as new.

COVER GRADING

VERY GOOD - The cover has lost the sharpness of thecorners, and may display a few light creases or small tears , with some yellowing to the rear.

EXCELLENT - The cover is in very nice condition, with only minor discolouration to the rear, and appears to have been looked after.

NEAR MINT - The cover appears new, but has the lightest of blemishes, which are apparent only under close scrutiny.

MINT - As new (i.e. As if you'd bought it from a record shop that day !)
