Description
Two one-sided white label EMI test pressings for ALP 1531, original mono recording. Yehudi Menuhin plays the J. S. Bach Sonata no. 2 in A minor, BWV 1003 and Partita no. 2 in D minor (with the famous Chaconne), BWV 1004, for solo violin. See pics for program details. I have included a jacket for this issue. You will notice that on the jacket it says Sonata #3 and Sonata #4. but these are the pieces more commonly referred to as Sonata #2 and Partita #2, which is how they are titled on the test pressings. At some point they decided to number the six pieces as Sonatas #1 through #6.
Included are the EMI inner sleeves with hand written notations. Matrix and stamper for the Sonata no. 2 is 2XEA 1190-1N, dated 20 June, 1957. Partita no. 2 is 2XEA 1191-1N, dated 21 June, 1957.
Discs are both NM, laminated flipback jacket VG++
