Description
This is a fine original U.K. pressing copy of an early live recording by British group Alternative TV, recorded in September 1977 (by Genesis P. Orridge of COUM Transmissions/Throbbing Gristle) and released in 1979. The record is of historical interest since it captures the group before the release of their timely debut LP. Only two tracks from the LP appear here: one of the two Zappa covers and an embryonic version of the participatory live track, "Alternatives" (called "Alternatives to NATO"). Versions of four pre-LP singles tracks are also included, along with an interesting makeover of Chuck Berry's "Memphis" (to my ears the LP's highlight) and lots of between-song banter by Mark Perry. Unfortunately, the recording quality isn't great. The jacket has staining on the back cover, light ring wear on the front cover, light corner and bottom seam wear, and a little light creasing (EX-). The disc is clean, and plays with minimal surface noise (M-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
