Another from my personal collection. Purchased from new and initially only played one time to record to tape. This has been stored in a case with the sleeve and cover seperated from the vinyl for over 35 years which has preserved this album and kept it in near pristine condition for all of this time!!! Absolutely stunning audio as new sounding vinyl in my opinion!!! Very scarce album to find in this condition. An archive copy for any avid Blues or Alvin Lee collectors!!!

On the Road to Freedom is the 1973 album by Alvin Lee and Mylon LeFevre. Guest musicians include George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Mick Fleetwood, and Ron Wood. The standout tracks are "On the Road to Freedom", "Funny", "Carry My Load", and "Rockin' 'Til the Sun Goes Down".

Alvin Lee (born Graham Barnes,

He began playing guitar at the age of 13, and with Leo Lyons formed the core of the band Ten Years After in 1960. Influenced by his parents' collection of jazz and blues records, it was the advent of rock and roll that truly sparked his interest and creativity, and guitarists like Chuck Berry and Scotty Moore provided his inspiration!!.

The Jaybirds, as Lee's early band was called from 1962, were popular locally, and had success at Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany (since that time lead guitarist Lee also took lead vocals), following The Beatles there the same year. But it was not until the band moved to London in 1966 and changed its name, first to Jaybird, dropping 'The' and 's' to make it sound more contemporary; then to Blues Yard (for one gig at the Marque Club); and finally to Ten Years After (TYA), that international success beckoned.

 The band secured a residency at the Marquee Club, and an invitation to the Windsor Jazz & Blues Festival in 1967 led to their first recording contract. The self titled debut album surprisingly received play on San Francisco, California's underground radio stations and was enthusiastically embraced by listeners, including concert promoter Bill Graham, who invited the band to tour the United States for the first time in the summer of 1968. Audiences were immediately taken by Lee's distinctive, soulful, rapid fire guitar playing and the band's innovative mix of blues, swing jazz and rock, and an American love affair began TYA would ultimately tour the U.S. twenty-eight times in seven years, more than any other UK band!!.

Appearing at the Woodstock Festival, Lee's performance was captured on film in the documentary of the festival and his playing helped catapult him into stardom. Soon the band was playing arenas and stadia around the globe. Although Lee later lamented that he missed the intimacy of smaller venues, there is no denying the impact the film made in bringing his music to a worldwide audience!!.

The Vinyl

This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and indeed looks like new!!!!!!

On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe! IT'S HARD TO SEE SEE A BLEMISH AT ALL!!! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light could any  light marks possibly be seen mainly caused by the record been slid in and out of its sleeve !!TO BE HONEST IT IS HARD TO EVEN SEE A BLEMISH AT ALL! Please note!  Cesrtainly (no) marks that are audio sounding that I heard that would produce any clicks or interfearance during the audio at all!

The Audio Quality

  I have played this through track for track as usual and the audio is rated at the very top of any grading system in my opinion!  This is cristal clear and vibrant through out. This plays with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed! IN FACT THIS LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS ONLY EVER BEEN PLAYED A HANDFUL OF TIMES EVER!!! I would class myself as highly critacle! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Audio is graded at the top!!! You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass!!!Audio graded at least excellent plus to near perfect on my systems!!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static  (not) consistant throughout the audio! Although i never heard any problems at all and have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 35 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 35 year old system!!!!

Please note! This has been stored in a case for at least 25 years! Any static crackle that might be heard during some quiet parts could be minimised by constant cleaning before each play in my experiance!, Build up of dust and dirt that has accumilated over the years of the vinyl being stored laying dormant causes most of this problem so please allow for some light static crackle as  previously mentioned!!!!! I would class myself as highly critical ! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!!!!

The Labels

these look nearly new!!!

This features the original CHRISALIS  labels in superbe condition (no) marks or nasty writing! I can just barely see a handful of  spider marks that's all which indicates this has hardly ever been played at all (very rare for a 1st pressing) ''made in England'' text is featured (this is a UK pressing) little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!!(see photos)!!

This is the early original 1ST ISSUE  un-Laminated gatefold cover. The condition of this cover is AWESOME almost As New in my opinion !!! Amaizingly (no) creases worth to mention  or (no) real storageware very rare to find like this! nice and sharp corners ! The writing on the spine can clearly be seen (see photos)!  absolutely superbe throughout!!!!!! Try to find better!!!!Graded at least excellent plus to very near perfect!!!
