Description
Offered is the Amar Quartet's legendary 1927(?) recording of Bartok's String Quartet No. 2, on the original Polydor 78s (66425-8). They are in the original (rather battered) binder from The Gramophone Shop. Oddly enough. the first record is on the plain black & gold label, and the other three bear the more colorful label. My guess is that Polydor was in the process of changing to the less ornate label when this set was issued.
Yes, both Hindemith brothers were members of the Quartet.
For records that are over 80 years old, they're in super condition...the usual 78 surface noise and a few minor pops are noticeable, but nothing serious. Shellac looks gorgeous. The original owner took good care of the set.
Buyer pays exact mailing charges shipped anywhere in the Continental U.S.A. (Priority or Media Mail, your choice) or overseas (your choice of surface or air delivery) plus a modest $3.00 packing charge.
Insurance is HIGHLY recommended...78s can break. I have mailed 78s many times and they always arrived intact.
Good luck, and thanks for bidding.
