"Know By Heart" was a landmark release for American Analog Set in 2001, chronicling a moment in which their unhurried and declaredly lo-fi sound truly came into its own as a quiet victory of understatement and charm over bombast and pomposity. This was a band that triumphed though infectious songwriting and careful instrumentation, Minimal and fresh, elegant yet lyrically wry, this long out-of-print album has stubbornly refused to date in the thirteen years since, which makes this 180-gram reissue, replete with previously unreleased demos aplenty, a tonic for longstanding devotees and converts alike.
