American contemporary artist, musician, painter and director Chino Amobi is finally back with a long-awaited follow-up to 2017's Paradiso. Where that record burned with global heat and confrontation, Eroica II: Christian Nihilism cools into a starker and more meditative landscape with folky drones, glacial ambient tones, spectral trap and traces of sacred music all ghosting in and out of earshot. It's a haunting world that touches on faith and exile while also drawing on Russian literature, Orthodox mysticism and personal spiritual struggle. Amobi embraces silence and chaos alike here and always finds fragile beauty in despair and the mystery of faith.
