PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: ((SEE POSTED RATES)) Discount shipping on multiple RECORDS in same order. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1971 BRITISH ACID PROGRESSIVE CHAMPION!
= SECOND HAND =
DEATH May Be Y O U R Santa Clause
Europe - Mushroom Records - 20 MR6
RARE ...long long gone European pressing ... this was the FIRST reissue pressed up in limited quantity back some 20 years or more ago... as reading about the older preferred 2nd-pressings in acid archives, it is such, and not digitalized, but exactly as it sounded in full analog glory! The legendary 1971 SECOND HAND LP :::::
- Ken Elliott / organ, mellotron, vocals, piano- Kieran O'Connor / percussion, drums, noise, vibraphone, vocals
- George Hart / bass, vocals, violin
- Moggy Mead / guitar
- Rob Elliot / vocals On the "whacked-out scale" -- this album doesn't just rate a 10+++......its off the charts!! One of the most insane, out-there, and seriously disturbed/disturbing records you'll ever hear in the 'mainstream' of progressive rock, although this is really more of a late psychedelic album. Undoubtedly made under the influence of a LOT of drugs, and probably best heard in that state. If not, it will make you feel that way! Definitely an altered-state inducing recording. This extraordinary work can now be seen at last for what it is - a ground-breaking masterpiece. At times funereal, at times intricately classical and at times almost hard rock, the whole explosion of keyboard-driven music is fuelled by Kenny Elliott's dextrous and versatile mellotron, Wurlitzer organ, piano and other keys. The background powerhouse rhythmn section is supplied by George Hart on bass and Kieran O'Connor on drums. Songs and instrumentals have a Hieronymous Bosch feel to them with a mixture of surrealism and tongue-in-cheek black humour. Tracks such as "Cyclops" are based on a Bach motif while "Something you've got" is almost a straight-ahead rocker. The final instrumental of the album is probably the high point among many - the main riff kicks in so hard that it makes you jump out of your seat and ends with a triumphant classical wall of chords against some quite extraordinary phased drums from Kieran, who must have had at least four hands to have played them and indicates a very jazz-influenced background and training. Really, there is not a dull moment on this album, even though one is bound to have favourites.
Right from the start, the title track twists & turns with its great catchy organ riff and crazy Arthur Brown-like vocal. What nobody seemed to know then, and even now, which makes it easier to sit through the entire record from front to back, is that this is actually a SOUNDTRACK for an equally obscure and bizarre film of the same name. This explains the unusual structure ( lack of) pervading the entire album, and the surreal dreamlike/nightmare qualities throughout. Yes, many of the hallmarks of the traditional 'progressive' sound is here: Hammond organ (the chief melodic instrument), odd time signatures, classical sounding passages/quotes. But the vocals are about as 'unprogressive' as you can get and are actually somewhere in the madcap 'punk' vein in most cases (save for the Beautiful 'Hangin' on an Eyelid'), with heavy doses of near-psychotic levels of emotion; a kind of prog/punk 'expressionism' if you want a label. Think of Pink Floyd in hell and maybe you get an idea. Or the track actually entitled 'Hell' from the first Gracious album...except that on this album there is a lot of humor and fun in the overall vibe too. You get the feeling these guys were stoned out of their minds and in a Zap comix kind of space when they recorded this insane masterpiece, which, typical for the period and the 'stoner' mentality, has plenty of carnival funhouse kind of moments and left-to- right panning of stereo speakers channels. Wow man, heavy!!! Not surprisingly, this band changed their name to 'Chillum' (a dope paraphernalia-related moniker...of course!) and did another stoner sounding record before totally going off the rails and becoming the outlandish Seventh Wave. Savor this bizarre album lying on your back with the black/strobe light handy. Be forewarned: this is certainly not an ACID friendly or chick-friendly record.
